Early Return to Work Response from Employer
Eight weeks’ notice must be given by an employee if they intend to return to work early after their maternity leave. If an employee fails to give the correct notice, their employer may adjust the return date accordingly to ensure that eight weeks’ notice has been given.
This letter is designed for use by an employer to respond to an employee’s notice of their planned early return from maternity leave. This letter contains two optional paragraphs. The first is a simple acknowledgment of the employee’s correct notice. The second is for use in situations where the employee has given insufficient notice and provides for a new return date whereby the employer will have been given the required 8 weeks’ notice.
