Letter Confirming Maternity Leave Dates Where Maternity Leave Started Early
This letter should be used when an employee’s maternity leave has started early on account of the birth of the child or due to an absence from work for a pregnancy-related reason after the start of the 4th week before the expected week of childbirth.
The letter advises the employee of the revised date on which her maternity leave began and also tells the employee when she is expected to return to work.
If the employee intends to take the full 52 weeks of maternity leave to which she is entitled, she is not required to give any further notification to her employer that she will be returning to work. However, if she wishes to return to work before the end of her full maternity leave entitlement, she must give her employer eight weeks’ notice of the date she intends to return.
