Letter offering a permanent job to an apprentice

EMP.APR.04

This Letter offering a permanent job to an apprentice should be used when an employer wishes to offer an apprentice a permanent contract of employment at the end of their apprenticeship.

Probationary period for the permanent role

The letter includes an optional clause stating that the permanent employment is subject to a probationary period.

This may be useful where the permanent role on offer is different from the role carried out during the apprenticeship.

Continuity of employment after the apprenticeship

Employers should be aware that continuity of employment will continue to accrue from the end of the apprenticeship unless the employer specifically states otherwise.

In those circumstances, the individual’s total length of continuous service will be calculated from the start date of the apprenticeship.

Break in continuous service

The letter includes an optional clause for employers who wish to create a break in the individual’s continuity of service.

The employer should ensure that there is a break of at least one calendar week between the last day of the apprenticeship and the first day of permanent employment.

Letter offering a permanent job to an apprentice is part of Employment. Just £38.50 + VAT provides unlimited downloads from Employment for 1 year.
