This Letter offering a permanent job to an apprentice should be used when an employer wishes to offer an apprentice a permanent contract of employment at the end of their apprenticeship.
This letter has an optional clause stating that their employment is subject to a probationary period. The employer may wish to make use of a probationary period if the permanent role on offer is different from the role that was being carried out during the apprenticeship.
Employers should be aware that continuity of employment will continue to accrue from the end of the apprenticeship unless the employer specifically states otherwise. In these circumstances, the individual’s total length of continuous service will be calculated from the start date of the apprenticeship.
