Tenant’s Request for Consent to Energy Efficiency Improvements
This Tenant’s Request for Consent to Energy Efficiency Improvements is a template letter for a residential tenant to use to obtain their landlord’s consent to the making of energy efficiency improvements to a rented property.
This letter complies with Part 2 of The Energy Efficiency (Private Rented Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015, which came into force on 1 April 2016. This legislation allows residential tenants to request their landlord’s consent to make energy efficiency improvements. Landlords must not unreasonably refuse consent if the tenant’s request complies with the Regulations.
Tenants must demonstrate that the improvements will be made at no cost to the landlord. They may be financed by green deal funding, provided free of charge by an energy company, funded by a grant or paid for by the tenant (or a combination of the above).
Please refer to the Guidance Notes in this subfolder for more detailed information about tenants’ energy efficiency improvements.
