Job Share Employment Contract
The Job Share Employment Contract provides for a structured form of part time working, where two people share one job. The duties of the job are split, and the hours, pay and benefits of the full-time job are divided in direct proportion to the number of hours that each job-sharer works. This contract is designed for simplicity’s sake on the basis of a 50/50 split in the burden of the work and includes time when both workers will ‘overlap’ in order to assure continuity in the office.
This Employment Contract covers the requirements of a Standard Form Section One Statement. This contract complies with these requirements and must be provided to the employee or worker by day one of employment.
Job Sharing has become increasingly popular as a form of part time or flexible working as it grants flexibility to the employees concerned and also to the Company, especially if there is some overlap of the job-sharer’s hours built in during very busy periods.
This contract contains an important clause which clarifies what will happen if one job share partner decides to leave or is transferred within the Company. It ensures that the employer has maximum flexibility in handling such a situation.
Employers should always discuss this possibility with Job Sharers before any Job Share agreement is entered into.
