These document templates are designed to assist charity trustees to meet their various legal duties and obligations under charity and other applicable laws.

It is recommend that all individuals who are already trustees, or who are to be appointed as trustees, of any charity read the Guidance Note – Charity Trustees’ Duties, Responsibilities and Liabilities. It provides an introduction to the various obligations imposed by law on trustees.

The other templates relate to charity trustees as individuals rather than to the charity organisation itself. These documents can be used when setting up a charity and subsequently.

Some of the documents relate to dealing with actual or potential conflicts between a trustee’s interests and those of the charity. As the Charity Commission recommends that charities adopt a conflict of interest policy,  two versions of a Conflict of Interest Policy are also included - one for CIOs and one for Charitable Companies Limited by Guarantee.
