Guidance Notes For Employers: Sickness And Absence At Work
These Guidance Notes for Employers: Sickness and Absence at Work have been updated to include a more detailed notification procedure for employees to let their employers know that they are sick. It also includes the requirements placed by the Equality Act 2010 on employers in cases of disability related absence.
These Guidance Notes provide employers with a general overview of the Sickness and Absence Policy available in the Sickness and Absence subfolder. They can also be used as a stand alone document to provide employers with general information on dealing with employee sickness and absence.
They cover areas such as: sickness procedure; short-term sickness; long-term sickness; statutory sick pay; company sick pay; and other non-sickness related absences.
These Guidance Notes for Employers: Sickness and Absence at Work include the 'fit note' requirements. This allows doctors to advise that employees are either 'unfit for work', or 'may be fit for work' with suitable support from the employer.
