Guidance Note: TIGA (Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977
This Guidance Note: TIGA (Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 explains the rights that a business owner has under the 1977 Act to sell or dispose of a customer’s uncollected goods in certain circumstances.
The Note outlines those circumstances and it explains how and when those rights arise and how and when each of the various template documents in this subfolder may be used to establish or exercise those rights.
In essence those rights arise under the Act where you have fully carried out services for a customer in relation to his goods but he fails to either collect those goods from you or give you any instructions as to re-delivery of the goods.
We strongly recommend that before you make any use of any of the template Notices in this subfolder, or take any other steps in relation to customer goods which have not been collected, you read this Guidance Note: TIGA (Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.
