Letter Inviting Employees to Elect Representatives for Collective Redundancy Consultation

EMP.COL.RED.02

Redundancy is potentially a "fair" reason for dismissal but non-compliance with fair redundancy procedures could render an employer open to a successful action for unfair dismissal.

This letter should be used where there are no trade union representatives for the purposes of collective redundancy consultation. A collective redundancy consultation is required where 20 or more employees are potentially affected by the redundancy proposal. See the Redundancy Policy for full details of the consultation process to be followed. Please note that the consultation period for collective consultation process runs from the date of the first collective consultation meeting with employee representatives.

This letter informs employees of the duties and obligations of elected employee representatives and the election process. It also invites them to elect representatives. There is also a candidate nomination form to be used in order to elect employee representatives.

This Letter inviting employees to elect representatives for collective redundancy consultation is in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.
