CHF - RP07 – Apply to Change a Company’s Disputed Registered Office Address

Form RP07 is the form prescribed by Companies House to apply to the registrar to change a company’s address if there is a dispute over the address and the party submitting the form wishes to complain about a registered office address or a person’s service address or principal office address.
From 4th March 2024, the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) has introduced new rules for addresses. Companies must always have an “appropriate” registered office address. This is one where:
- any documents sent to the registered office would be expected to come to the attention of a person acting on behalf of the company; and
- any documents sent to that address can be recorded by an acknowledgement of delivery.
Companies cannot use PO Boxes but can use a third-party agent’s address, such as an accountant or a solicitor, provided it meets the conditions of being an appropriate address.
Companies House has significantly increased powers under the ECCTA to change the address of a company if the Registrar is satisfied that a company is not authorised to use an address and will act against those companies who persistently fail to provide an "appropriate" registered office address.
This form should be used to apply to the registrar and give details of the company that is misusing an address. Reasons for the application must be given. Evidence must also be included with the application. The form details which supporting documents can be used as evidence.
