Confirmation to remove a Residential Address from the Register
This template confirmation can be used where a company asks an individual to authorise the company to act on their behalf to protect the individual’s usual residential address (URA) from public view at Companies House.
It is intended for use where the URA has previously been used by the company as its registered office address (ROA).
Background
The Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships (Protection and Disclosure of Information and Consequential Amendments) Regulations 2024 took effect on 27 January 2025 and extend the ability for individuals to protect their URA from public view at Companies House if it has previously been used by a company as its ROA.
When should you use this confirmation?
Where a company has previously had a URA as its ROA, it may send a letter to the relevant individual (often a director or member of the company) informing them of the change and stating that the company will undertake the process of protecting the URA.
The individual will be asked to confirm that they authorise the company to act on their behalf. This template can be used as that confirmation.
ECCTA 2023 context
These Regulations are made under the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act 2023, which reformed the role and powers of the registrar to include the prevention of abuse of personal information on the companies register.
