Data Subject Rights Letter – Receipt of Fee
BS.DAT.DSR.LT.05
Data protection law in the UK, comprising principally of the UK GDPR and the
Data Protection Act 2018, provides a range of rights for individuals (“data
subjects”) designed to help protect their personal data as well as their
own rights, interests, and freedoms.
This letter is designed for acknowledging your receipt of a fee requested
for a “manifestly unfounded” or “excessive” request, and further informs
the individual of the time limit for your response (one month from the date
that the fee was received).
In some cases, particularly where a request is complex (or numerous), the
normal time limit can be extended. If it is clear that you will need the
additional time at the outset, an alternative template is available which
includes reference to that extension.
Optional phrases / clauses are enclosed in square brackets. These should be
read carefully and selected so as to be compatible with one another. Unused
options should be removed from the document.
