Work Equipment Maintenance Operations
The employer must ensure that work equipment is constructed or adapted to enable, so far as is reasonably practicable, maintenance operations which involve health or safety risks to be carried out while the work equipment is shut down.
Where shut down is not necessary or possible for health and safety reasons, the employer must ensure that work equipment is constructed or adapted to enable, so far as is reasonably practicable:
- maintenance operations to be carried out without exposing anyone carrying them out to a risk to their health or safety; or
- appropriate measures to be taken for the protection of anyone carrying out maintenance operations which involve a risk to their health or safety.
