Letter to an employee reviewing a period of suspension

EMP.SUS.07

This Letter to an employee reviewing a period of suspension should be used to advise an employee of the result of a review into a period of suspension. Suspension may be appropriate when there have been allegations of misconduct against the employee, which require an investigation. It should be read in conjunction with the Disciplinary Policy and Disciplinary Procedure and Guidance Notes: Disciplinary Procedure.

Suspension is a precautionary measure that should be used to allow an investigation to take place. A suspension period should be as short as possible and kept under regular review. During suspension, pay and benefits should remain unaltered.

The letter includes optional clauses depending on whether or not the employer has decided that the suspension should continue.

The letter warns the employee that disciplinary action may follow as a result of the investigation that was conducted during the suspension period.
