Shared Parental Leave In Touch Days Request Letter
This Shared Parental Leave In Touch Days Request Letter allows an employee on Shared Parental Leave to make contact with his or her employer regarding a Shared Parental Leave In Touch day.
Shared Parental Leave In Touch days (“SPLIT days") allow employees on Shared Parental Leave to return to work during their leave. This must be agreed between the employer and employee. An employee may be permitted to take up to 20 SPLIT days in total. These 20 days are in addition to the 10 Keeping In Touch (KIT) days available during Maternity or Adoption Leave. Work undertaken on a SPLIT day need not be limited to the employee’s normal duties and can include training and other events.
The employer cannot require an employee to take SPLIT days, nor can they penalise the employee for not taking any. Similarly, the employer is not obliged to offer such days.
