Your health and safety policy should explain your overall approach, who is responsible for particular tasks and the practical arrangements you have in place. The Statement, Policy and Arrangements and Procedures Documents can help you set this out. In Great Britain, employers with five or more employees must have a written policy. Smaller employers can also benefit from putting their arrangements in writing. Share your policy and any changes with your employees.

Under CDM 2015 in Great Britain, every construction project requires a construction phase plan before construction work begins. This includes small jobs and projects involving only one contractor. The sole contractor prepares the plan on a project involving one contractor; the principal contractor prepares it where more than one contractor is involved.
