Request to Bank for Reference for Trade Credit
The Request to Bank for Reference for Trade Credit letter is to be addressed to the bank detailing the amount of credit and the period for which credit is being applied.
This letter requests the bank to provide an indication of the suitability of the customer for the purpose.
The bank will reply with an unsigned letter with any of a number of standard formats from "not having sufficient knowledge" to "suitable to the purpose" the wording dependant on both their experience with the customer and the legal entity of that customer.
As the bank is only providing "comfort", the absence of a signature is to ensure that the letter cannot be deemed as any form of guarantee in respect of the customer's credit worthiness.
