LLP Confirmation of Identity Letter 
This letter confirmation of identity verification confirms that a prospective member has either been successfully ID verified or will complete the process.
This is particularly important as LLPs are under an obligation to ensure that an individual does not act as a member unless their identity has been successfully verified. Failure to do so is a criminal offence.
Use this letter to record a member’s IDV status and commitment to complete IDV
This letter provides comfort to the LLP that the member understands the importance of identity verification (IDV) and will undertake and complete the process in a timely manner.
IDV is personal to the member and the Companies House personal code will be issued to the member once they have successfully ID verified.
Identity verification (IDV) under the ECCTA
The introduction of the IDV regime is one of the key changes to UK company law under the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) which secondary legislation has applied to LLPs. Members must be ID verified to act under the provisions of the ECCTA and there will be potential civil and criminal penalties for failure to do so.
Mandatory IDV for individuals who are members commenced on 18 November 2025. IDV applies to members irrespective of their nationality or where they are resident.
The ECCTA gives Companies House new and enhanced powers to help disrupt economic crime and the IDV regime is a key component of this.
It is no longer possible to register an appointment of a member at Companies House nor for that member to act, until they have been ID verified.
