On 1st April 2009 the second phase of the implementation of the Working Time (Amendment) Regulations 2007 increase in the minimum statutory holiday entitlement was completed. From April 2009 all staff are now entitled to 28 days annual leave inclusive of the standard 8 bank holidays. Since Oct 2007 the entitlement has been 24 days.
Following the increase in holiday entitlement employers do not need to reissue or amend employment contracts but are obliged to give notice to their employees of any increase in their statutory entitlement. This Holiday Entitlement Notifiaction Letter sets out this latest increase.
It also states that payment in lieu of statutory holiday is no longer permissable, and that, subject to the employer's agreement, carry over of up to 8 days is still allowable.
