HS.RTW.07
This Example COVID-19 Return to Work Pub/Restaurant Risk Assessment Form
template can be used to help assessors get started when they carry out a
COVID-19 risk assessment for their particular pub/restaurant.
This worked example is based on a hypothetical restaurant/pub set-up: a
pub/restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining areas, main and side
entrances/exits, providing for drink and food consumption at the venue,
also takeaway and delivery services. The venue has its own car parking
area. The business has a booking/reservation system in place.
This document provides for the Government
guidance on the following:
· NHS Test and Trace Service collection and retention of customer data
requirements;
· Limits on number of customers/Rule of Six and exceptions;
· Signage to remind customers to only interact with their own group;
· Additional use of face masks;
· Use of official NHS QR code posters required from 24th
September 2020; and
· Table service only.
The scope of this example may also assist cafés, bars and similar
establishments where food and drink are purchased and consumed at the venue
(indoor or outdoor) or offered for takeaway or delivery.
This document should only be used as a guide/hints list when applying the
COVID-19 Return to Work Blank Risk Assessment Form to your own premises.
It is imperative that any risk assessment is specific to each business,
location and department and that all measures and controls are carried out
and not just recorded on the form. It is important to make sure that “you
have done enough” in your risk assessment.
This example risk assessment is designed to help a pub/restaurant business
complete reasonable and practicable measures and controls to enable both
employees and customers to return safely to the premises. The application
of the COVID-19 risk assessment forms presumes that the hazard in respect
of all these forms is the risk to staff and customers (and delivery
personnel as appropriate) of being infected by the Coronavirus within the
relevant location. The persons at risk in this example are the staff,
customers and delivery drivers.
The “Existing Controls”, “Further Measures” and “Action Required” details
serve as hints only and may or may not apply to your particular
establishment. Such controls and measures will depend entirely on your
company’s / business’ current health & safety procedures and the steps
that you have taken (and will take) in respect of managing the risk of
coronavirus infection in your particular workplace.
