Copyright Enforcement Guidance Notes
Copyright can be an extremely valuable asset to businesses and individuals alike. As such, it should be protected carefully and zealously. Historically, breaching copyright was perhaps more of a conscious act than it is today, and more difficult. Modern technology has brought with it many benefits, however it also means that breaching intellectual property rights has never been easier.
These Copyright Enforcement Guidance Notes have been designed to give you a starting point in protecting and enforcing your copyright.
The guidance notes begin by setting out a brief introduction to copyright, setting out what is protected by it. Secondly, details are given as to infringement – also known as “restricted acts”. This section also provides comprehensive details of the exceptions or “permitted acts”. Computer programs and copyright protection receive a brief overview in section three. Finally, and most importantly, details of dealing with infringement are provided.
