Is It Actually Necessary to Set Up a New Organisation?
When considering whether or not to set up a charity (or other kind of organisation) to achieve your intended purposes, you might find that it is unnecessary to do so if there is an existing charity pursuing the same aims as yours. Alternatively, it might be more appropriate or effective to engage in the following or other activities rather than setting up a new charity:
- Donating to an existing charity
- Fundraising (alone or as part of a group of people) in aid of an existing charity
- Becoming a volunteer or trustee with an existing charity or other organisation
- Arranging for a charity to “ring fence” your donations to it for a particular purpose named by you.
