This Residential Tenant Letter for Check-Out Inventory is for use by a residential landlord who wishes to conduct the check-out inventory at the end of a tenancy.  This letter should be printed on the landlord’s headed paper and sent to the tenant.

Landlords should ensure that they comply with the relevant terms of the tenancy agreement when arranging inspections and where possible, provide a copy of the check-in inventory so a tenant can take steps prior to the inspection to put the property in as near a condition to the start of the tenancy as possible.

This letter confirms the date and time of the inspection and who will be attending.  The tenant is asked to sign a copy of the letter and return it to the landlord to confirm their acceptance of the arrangements.  The landlord must remember to send the tenant two copies of the letter and a stamped addressed envelope.

Optional phrases / clauses are enclosed in square brackets. These should be read carefully and selected so as to be compatible with one another.  Unused options should be removed from the document.
