New Charity Administration Templates
These new Charity and Non-Profit document templates are designed to assist charity trustees in the day-to-day administration of a charity. Using these new documents can assist in the efficient running of the charity and save time when it is necessary to produce documents to meet legal requirements or best practice.
Most (but not all) of the new items are for use by a charity which has been set up in the form of a charitable company limited by guarantee. As a company, such a charity has to contend with the requirements of company law as well as charity law. For trustees of such a charity, it can be time consuming to work out what documents are required and when they should be used. Both the existing and new charity documents should assist trustees in that task, leaving them with more time and energy to concentrate on helping the beneficiaries of their charity.
The new templates include various pro forma documents for use by a trustee board, including a confirmation statement to be filed with Companies House annually by a charitable company, a form of resolution for the board to appoint a committee, a form which enables the trustees to pass a resolution in writing rather than at a meeting, template minutes for routine trustee board meetings and template minutes of a board meeting held to consider a charity’s compliance with UK GDPR.
The new templates also include forms to be routinely completed and filed at Companies House when appointing a new trustee or secretary or terminating the appointment of a secretary or any trustee. In addition, there are forms (also to be filed at Companies House) to record addresses of trustees and details of the secretary, as well as a form to record the location of the charity’s records.
