This Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme Return from Furlough Leave Letter should be used to advise an employee that the employer wishes to recall them to work from furlough leave.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) is now open and is intended to support employers to continue paying employees who would otherwise be made redundant or put on an unpaid period of lay-off during this crisis. In order to qualify for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, employers will need to:

• Designate affected employees as ‘furloughed workers’, and notify employees of this change; and

• Submit information to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) about the employees that have been furloughed and their earnings through the new online portal.

The CJRS is open until the end of July 2020 in its current form and the minimum furlough period is three weeks. At the end of each furlough period, the employer should review its furlough arrangements and decide if the furlough period should continue or the employee should return to work.

The CJRS has been extended to October 2020 with the Scheme continuing in its current form until 31st July 2020. From August to October 2020 the Scheme will be changed so that furloughed employees can be brought back part-time.
