Receipt for Letting Deposit
This Receipt for Letting Deposit template records when a contract-holder has paid a deposit to a landlord. A security deposit is usually taken to cover damage, breakages, and cleaning at the end of the occupation contract.
There are currently no caps on the amount of a security deposit which can be collected from a contract-holder in Wales.
The template includes optional wording to record how much was contributed by each contract-holder and for the landlord to agree to repay the deposit in the same proportions.
Deposits relating to occupation contracts must be protected in an approved Tenancy Deposit Scheme in accordance with the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016. Converted occupation contracts continue to be protected as they were prior to conversion from an assured shorthold tenancy.
The landlord must protect the deposit with a government scheme within 30 days of receiving the deposit and also complete the Required Information about Deposit Protection template and give it to the contract-holder(s) within 30 days of the receiving the deposit.
Optional phrases / clauses are enclosed in square brackets. These should be read carefully and selected so as to be compatible with one another. Unused options should be removed from the document.
This Receipt for Letting Deposit is in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.
