Sponsorship Agreement (Short)
This Sponsorship Agreement (Short) is designed to cover the sponsorship of an uncomplicated single event. It is designed to be used where the sponsor wishes to be associated with the event and its organiser, the size of one or both parties is fairly small, and the amount of sponsorship is fairly small. It is written more in favour of the sponsor than the event organiser since the sponsor is making a payment in return for commercial services.
This document has been updated with a simplified data protection clause which refers to a separate privacy notice, removing references to specific legislation for ease of use. Full details of personal data use should be provided in that document.
In this agreement, there are provisions for the sponsoring business to make a payment of money to the event organiser (to help fund the event or contribute to its funds), and for the event organiser in return to provide a number of specific sponsorship benefits (including the requirement to use the sponsor’s name, logo, or trade mark, to promote the sponsor’s business and to link the sponsor with the event).
The payment is for services, not a donation, and may qualify as a tax deductible business expense. The event organiser may have to charge VAT on the payment. Tax advice should be taken to check the position in each specific case.
This Sponsorship Agreement (Short) contains the following clauses:
1. Organizer’s responsibilities
2. Sponsor’s responsibilities
3. Circumstances beyond parties’ control
6. Data Protection
Schedule: details of the event, promotion, sponsorship fee, sponsor’s name, logo etc. [& privacy notices]
A longer form (for a single event) is also available. It is designed to be used where the sponsor is a larger commercial, or not-for-profit business, or charity or other voluntary sector body, and the sponsorship payment is a substantial sum.
This document is in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.
Optional phrases / clauses are enclosed in square brackets. These should be read carefully and selected so as to be compatible with one another. Unused options should be removed from the document.
