Sponsorship Agreement (Long)
This Sponsorship Agreement (Long) is suitable for a single event. It is designed for use where the sponsor is a business, the organiser is a fairly large commercial or not-for-profit business, or charity or other voluntary sector body, the sponsorship payment is a substantial sum, and the sponsor wishes to be associated with the event and its organiser. It is written more in favour of the sponsor than the event organiser, since the sponsor is making payments in return for commercial services, but it does contain limitations of liability which help to protect the event organiser.
This document has been updated with a simplified data protection clause which refers to a separate privacy notice, removing references to specific legislation for ease of use. Full details of personal data use should be provided in that document.
In this agreement, there are provisions for the sponsoring business to make one or more payments of money to the event organiser (to help fund the event or contribute to its funds), and for the event organiser in return to provide a number of specific sponsorship benefits, including the requirement to use the sponsor’s name, logo or trade mark, to promote the sponsor’s business and to link the sponsor with the event. The sponsorship payment is for services, not a donation, and may qualify as a tax deductible business expense. The event organiser may have to charge VAT on the payment. Tax advice should be taken to check the position in each specific case.
