Wales And The Renters' Rights Act: What Welsh Landlords Need To Know

The Renters' Rights Act 2025 And Wales

Whilst the majority of reforms apply to England, Welsh landlords should be aware that they will also be prohibited from engaging in discriminatory practices - specifically, refusing tenancies on the grounds that a tenant is in receipt of benefits or who have children.  Landlords cannot refuse or restrict these households from enquiring about a property or exclude them from entering into a tenancy agreement.

When Will These Changes Take Effect

The Welsh government will determine when this provision comes into force.
