Paternity Leave Policy (Adoption within Great Britain)

This Paternity Leave Policy (Adoption within Great Britain) sets out the rights of an employee to take ordinary paternity leave and shared parental leave in respect of the adoption of a child within Great Britain, and the procedures that must be followed.

This policy is drafted to comply with and, if needed, exceed the rights currently provided for by legislation. Where a child is being adopted from overseas, use the separate Paternity Leave Policy (Overseas Adoption) instead.

Employees are eligible for paternity leave from the first day of employment. Employers should be aware that, for adoption within Great Britain, notice must be given no more than seven days after the adopter is notified of having been matched with the child.
