Other Types of Dismissal
Dismissal can occur naturally if an employment contract is of a fixed duration. Employees are on a fixed term contract if:
- They have an employment contract; and
- The contract ends on a particular date, or on the completion of a specific task, e.g. a project.
Resignations, as long as they are not deemed forced, are another common way of ending an employment relationship. If used in conjunction with a settlement agreement, it’s important to ensure that any terms are reasonable and clear.
