Dismissal can occur naturally if an employment contract is of a fixed duration. Staff in academia are often employed under fixed-term contracts. Alternatively, some employment contracts come to an end upon completion of a specific project or achievement of a particular goal.
Resignations, as long as they are not deemed forced, are another common way of ending an employment relationship. If used in conjunction with a compromise agreement, it’s important to ensure that any terms are reasonable and clear.
