Asbestos Containing Materials Inspection Forms
It is estimated that in the UK there are in excess of 4000 deaths every year as a result of exposure to asbestos and asbestos containing materials (ACM’s). The importation or use of asbestos was banned in the UK in 1999. However the legacy is that there are many tonnes still in buildings across the country.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 require building controllers to monitor the condition of any ACM’s in their premises, and to ensure that anyone who carries out any works that may disturb ACM’s is aware of their location before they start work.
This Asbestos Containing Materials documents sub-folder contains documents and information to help you understand which materials can contain asbestos, how to carry out an inspection of your premises as well as a template for an asbestos ‘Permit to Work’.
Templates in the Asbestos Containing Materials subfolder are developed for use by a 'duty holder'. The duty holder is normally the person who has clear responsibility for the maintenance or repairs of the non-domestic premises i.e. the Building Manager or the Caretaker.
