The Equality Act 2010 protects people from discrimination both in the workplace and in society in general, and the Act collected all equality and discrimination legislation into one place to make it clearer to understand. As part of this, the content of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) has been absorbed into the Equality Act.
Businesses still have a duty to allow disabled people to access their premises and use their services and must anticipate access issues that a disabled person might face on trying to enter or move about in those premises. In this subfolder you can find various Disability Access Audit Forms that will help you identify aspects of your premises that need to be improved in order to comply with Equality legislation. The subfolder also contains the necessary Disability Access Audit Action Plan that should be used to record the actions that are required as a result of issues that have been identified by the Access Audits. It provides for appointing/delegating responsibility, and setting target and completion dates for the actions to be taken.
