Asbestos (ACM) Product Chart
The revised Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 which came into effect in April 2012 continued the requirements of previous versions to hold a register of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) in your building.
If you own, occupy, manage or have responsibilities for non-domestic premises you will have either:
- a legal duty to manage the risk from this material, or
- a duty to co-operate with whoever manages these risks.
In practical terms this means that every non-domestic building must be surveyed /inspected. This ACM Product Chart provides a simple reference to products containing asbestos, describing their use and the fibre content for each. It will help to identify ACM’s in the premises. Asbestos, however, has been used in many other materials. If in doubt, and unless you have strong evidence to the contrary, you should presume that the material contains asbestos. Some material clearly does not contain asbestos - glass, solid wooden doors, floorboards, bricks and stone.
