This and the accompanying documents – the Health and Safety Policy and the Arrangements & Procedures together set out your commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of not only your employees but that of your guests.Your business may be your home, but it is also a workplace which means under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 you have a duty of care to any staff you may have as well as to your visitors/guests.
Unless you run a small B&B establishment, it is unlikely that you will have less than five employees (including part–timers), so to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 you must have a written Health and Safety Policy in addition to your Health and Safety Statement. Having a Hotel /Bed & Breakfast Health and Safety Statement is the first step in ensuring your compliance.
When signed and dated by the most senior person in the business for instance; the Managing Director or Senior Partner, this statement should be displayed in your workplace to demonstrate compliance.
