This Loan Request Letter can be used by a prospective borrower to approach a prospective lender and invite the lender to make a formal written financing proposal. It is intended to follow earlier discussions between the parties (for example by telephone, email, or in a meeting) and to place the borrower’s request for a loan in a more formal context.

It sets out the borrower’s financing requirement and the commercial background (including the borrower’s growth objectives) and invites the lender to put forward a financing proposal on the basis the parties have already discussed in principle.
