This Loan Request Letter may be sent by a prospective borrower to a prospective lender inviting the lender to make a formal written financing proposal to the borrower. It seeks to formalise contact that the two parties should already have had, possibly by telephone, email or in a face to face meeting, where the borrower has discussed their financing needs with the lender. This letter seeks to put the borrower’s request for a loan in a more formal context.

The letter sets out the growth objectives of the borrower and the desire for a loan in order to finance this growth. It invites the prospective lender to put together a financing proposal along the lines that the parties are likely to have informally agreed.
