Driving For Work - Guidance For Employees
The Driving for Work – Guidance for Employees is designed to sit alongside the Company Safe Driving Policy.
It is estimated that up to a third of road traffic accidents involve someone who is at work at the time, and many people – especially those who drive a lot, simply get into bad habits. This guidance is intended to act as a reminder of:
- what you should do to as a matter of routine every time you use your vehicle, and
- how the company expects you to act when you are driving on company business, after all your behaviour on the road may well reflect upon your employers.
These guidance notes have been updated to include a section on what is expected of employees who have been caught in extremes of weather. As always it is about keeping people safe from harm, so the added paragraphs are intended to make sure everyone who drives on company business understands what they need to do in severe weather conditions.
This Driving For Work – Guidance for Employees includes the following sections:
- Planning for your Journey
- Driving in Adverse Weather Conditions
- Heavy Rain and Flooding
- Snow and Ice
- Driving in Fog
- Personal Safety
- Mechanical Failure
- Calling for Help
- Third Party Breakdown
- Stress and Discomfort
- Tiredness and Rest Breaks
- Severe Weather
These guidance notes are in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.
