Non-Conforming Equipment

Where the manufacturer or supplier has not complied with relevant EU product directives the employer must ensure that any shortfall in standards is made good. He may do this by taking the necessary steps himself or by getting the manufacturer or supplier to take those steps.

Self-Produced Equipment

Where the employer himself is the producer of any item of work equipment covered by one or more EU product directives, he must ensure that the requirements are met before he puts it into service.
