Adoption Leave & Pay
Employees who adopt a child are entitled to take 52 weeks' statutory adoption leave and receive statutory adoption pay (SAP) for 39 weeks. However, there are specific qualifying criteria which differ according to whether it’s a UK or overseas adoption.
Although employers are required to pay SAP, much of this - if not all - can be reclaimed from HMRC.
