Preparing Properties for Winter: Advice For Landlords

As winter sets in, it's crucial to ensure your properties are ready for the colder months. Here are some key tips:

Boiler Maintenance:  Ensure gas boilers and appliances are safe. Confirm servicing by a Gas Safe engineer, address repairs, and provide the tenant with the service report within 28 days of inspection. 

Radiator checks: Advise tenants to check for cold spots, offer guidance on how to bleed radiators, and request immediate reporting of issues.

Roof and Insulation: Inspect the roof for damage and check insulation adequacy. Upgrade insulation if necessary to improve energy efficiency.

Damp and Mould: Advise tenants on how to reduce condensation to prevent damp and mould. Please see:  Damp and Mould in Dwellings
