This Checklist for Lawful Raffles provides a list of tests and checks to be applied in order to check whether the relevant aspects of a raffle (lottery) planned to be run for the benefit of a charity or other good cause will be within what is permitted by the Gambling Act 2005. The 2005 Act was amended by the Legislative Reform (Exempt Lotteries) Order 2016 to give greater scope for fundraising by any group or organisation for the benefit of a charity or good cause, as reflected in the checklist.

This checklist is intended as an aid for any group or organisation planning, organising, running or otherwise concerned with a raffle for the benefit of a charity or other good cause.
