The law requires you to provide the employee with written terms and conditions of employment of key aspects of their job by day one of employment.
Provision of Terms and Conditions of Employment
If you fail to do so, the new employee is entitled to ask an employment tribunal to decide what terms and conditions of employment must be provided.
You will need to decide in what form the terms and conditions of employment should be given. Normally terms and conditions of employment will be provided in the employment contract or in a separate written statement.
Certain particulars must be in one document. Exceptions are the grievance procedure and disciplinary procedure, sickness provisions, collective agreements, training that the employer will provide and pension arrangements. These items can be referred to in separate documentation provided that they are readily accessible to the employee.
