VAT & Business Updates
As 2010 draws to a close, the Simply-docs team are already busy working on new and updated content for 2011. Here’s a look ahead at what’s coming up in January and beyond!
January 2011 VAT Increase
As many, if not most of our visitors will be aware; the VAT rate will be increasing on 4th January from 17.5% to 20%. From 6pm on 3rd January, updated invoice and purchase order templates will be available from Simply-docs, enabling you to make a seamless transition from one VAT rate to another. Be kind to your customers and to yourself and be sure to keep up-to-date!
Key Anti-Bribery Legislation for April (Updated: July)
From 2011 Britain will have the world’s most rigorous anti-bribery laws courtesy of the new Bribery Act 2010 which comes into force on 1st [July].
UK businesses will be required to have adequate procedures in place in order to prevent any “associated persons” from taking or giving bribes. The Bribery Act is set to introduce a new criminal offence of bribery with associated fines or, in severe cases, a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
Simply-Docs will be developing an all-new bribery policy and related guidance notes in the early months of 2011 in preparation for [July]. Early in the New Year the government should be publishing guidance designed to help you familiarise yourself with the requirements of the Bribery Act 2010. Simply-docs will keep you up-to-date on all related happenings.
New Packages to Protect your IP and Information
We live in an information age, and as a business tool and business asset the value of information cannot be underestimated. Likewise, the importance and prominence of intellectual property is paramount to many businesses.
During the 2011, Simply-docs will be releasing new and updated document templates dealing with confidentiality and non-disclosure. Also within this timeframe, look out for an all-new comprehensive package of document templates and guidance notes for the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
