Health & Safety Expectant Mother Letter

HS.MAT.01

Once the employer has been informed in writing that an employee is pregnant, the employer has a legal obligation under R16 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 to take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of the expectant or new mother and baby whilst in their employment.

This Expectant Mother Acknowledgement Letter is written for employers to use in response to notification by an employee that she is pregnant.

Employers have a legal obligation to ensure the safety of the employee and her baby at work. A risk assessment must be conducted and any risks must be removed or alternative arrangements made (e.g. different work or hours). The New Mother or Expectant Mother Risk Assessment form should be used for these purposes.

This letter template is in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.
