Hacking and Fund Interceptions
Criminals may hack into emails sent by conveyancers in a conveyancing transaction and intercept the purchase monies by impersonating the conveyancer. Your conveyancer will have a process in place to avoid such criminal activity. For example, they may inform you that either their bank details are never sent via email and are sent via a hard copy in the post or contained in their terms and conditions and will not be changed. The conveyancer may also ring you to confirm the details before a payment is made. If you have any concerns or receive anything suspicious regarding payment details, you should check with your conveyancer before making a payment.
