Regulation of Fundraising
Note that charity fundraising is a regulated activity. The Charity Commission’s Guidance CC20 requires all charities to follow the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice generally in relation to all fundraising activities by and for charities.
Paragraph 2.4.5 of the Code specifically requires all charities to adopt a fundraising whistleblowing policy. Charity Fundraising Whistleblowing Policy is a template for such a policy.
Apart from meeting those legal requirements that are specific to charities and to their fundraising activities, charities must comply with the general law as it applies to its activities, for example the law relating to data protection, alcohol licensing, accounting, gambling, health & safety, advertising, tax and VAT.
