Receipt for Tenancy Deposit

PROP.RES.14
This Receipt for Tenancy Deposit document records that the Tenant has paid a Deposit to the Landlord. A Deposit equivalent to one month’s or six weeks’ rent is usually taken to cover damage, breakages and cleaning at the end of the tenancy.

Deposits relating to Assured Shorthold Tenancies (effectively most short-term residential tenancies) must be protected in an approved Tenancy Deposit Scheme in accordance with sections 212-215 and Schedule 10 of the Housing Act 2004. The Guidance on Tenancy Deposit Protection for Assured Shorthold Tenants provides further information.

Once the Deposit has been protected in a Tenancy Deposit Scheme the Landlord should complete the Prescribed Information about Deposit Protection template and give it to the Tenant within 30 days of receiving the Deposit.

Optional phrases / clauses are enclosed in square brackets. These should be read carefully and selected so as to be compatible with one another. Unused options should be removed from the document.

This Receipt for Tenancy Deposit is in open format. Either enter the requisite details in the highlighted fields or adjust the wording to suit your purposes.
