Landlords: Prepare for Making Tax Digital
More changes lie ahead for landlords. Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a government initiative designed to modernise how sole traders and landlords.
If you fall within the MTD thresholds, you will need to keep digital records, use approved software, submit quarterly updates, and file your annual tax return digitally.
When Will You Need To MTD
- From 6 April 2026 – qualifying income over £50,000
- From 6 April 2027 – qualifying income over £30,000
- From 6 April 2028 – qualifying income over £20,000
