Who legally owns the money a volunteer group raises in our name?
Your charity, from the moment it is raised: funds solicited for a charity are held for that charity and the group must pass them over, promptly and without deductions the rules do not allow. The group cannot redirect money to another cause, however worthy, because donors gave on the strength of your charity's name. Make the pay-over obligation, timescale and record-keeping explicit in the written rules, and reconcile what arrives against what events should have produced.
