New Leasing Scheme for Welsh Landlords

The Welsh government has launched a new scheme to support landlords with vacant properties allowing them to lease their properties to local authorities for a term of 5 to 20 years. In exchange, landlords receive a guaranteed monthly rental income and full property management services.

The Leasing Scheme Wales is being implemented by 20 local authorities across Wales aiming to improve access to housing in the private rental sector. 

Landlords should be aware that the Scheme does require properties to meet specific criteria, including having an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of at least C. To help landlords meet these requirements, grants of up to £5,000 are available for improving property conditions, with funding for empty homes extending up to £25,000.
